Topic: Reading Novels in Lag Time

10-second review: Every novel has dead time, the time when you become bored with it. You start out with enthusiasm and then after a while you find yourself growing tired. What can you do to reinvigorate your reading?

When I encounter dead time in a novel, I shift into reading one paragraph a page. I retain the gist of the plot, my pace speeds up and then I inevitably find that I am again “hooked” on reading everything. Another dead time? I go back to a paragraph a page until I again am hooked and begin to read everything.
